Signs of Spring

I don't know about where you live, but we are definitely in the throes of spring with warm temperatures and frequent rain showers. Everything with a hint of chloroform in its veins is working hard at bursting forth in color.  With all of the rain we've had these last couple of weeks, mud resides everywhere that is not concrete or existing grass. We couldn't let things go until the grass finally showed up for a little greenery so we planted a couple of Encore azaleas and nandinas  in the front flower beds. The Encore azaleas are the ones that flower spring, summer and fall. Now at least, it looks better than a couple of mud pits near the front porch.  We also made more progress on the coop, but since it rained until around 2:00 this afternoon, we didn't get as much done as we would have liked. It now has the lion face door knocker that Kim gave us as a house warming present for our first house. Now it's up to the interior decorators to finish the thing off so we can get the chickens moved in.
Exterior complete for the warmer seasons. We'll build windows before fall.
Kim, we didn't forget ya,  you're immortalized on the chicken coop door.
Something other than mud in the front yard. A little mulch and all will be well.
