Mom with the shelves and storage she installed for Lisa's new sewing room ( all recycled)
Dad completing measurements for the counter top we installed for the sewing room.
The completed sewing room. The shelves and brackets are all recycled from our old house, the only new thing is the counter top.
Lisa really wanted a seat in our mud room where we could take our shoes off and hang up a jacket when we got home. We had looked into buying some of those fancy cabinets you see in magazines but choked at the price. So, being the fiscally sound women that she is, she collected up a bunch of old wood scraps from around the new house, combined them with a few select pieces from the old house (the mantle from the upstairs) and told us to build her a cool seat.
So this is what we came up with. The bench is made from a stair tread, the back is made of tongue and groove board left over from the ceiling in the screened in porch and the old mantle tops it off. We'll paint it all white with the tongue and groove boards receiving a pickling wash. a few coat hooks will be added across the top of the pickled boards.
finally, here's another picture of our boy who is currently getting tons of snow at his house. I believe his mommy is getting a little nervous.
