The Garden's in, at Last

Now it really does feel like we're home with the garden finally in and most of the early stuff in the ground. As you'll see from the pictures, tomatoes and peppers dominate with  green beans (half runners and rattle snake), edemames and potatoes all planted but have yet to show their leafy faces. The next big thing on our agenda is getting the fence up to discourage foraging from four legged neighbors. Looks like I'll be getting personal with a post hole digger for those.

We also let the chickens out in a small fenced yard for the afternoon.  They really enjoyed being outside  while Lisa cleaned their coop and we worked in the garden. I think that will be a regular weekend activity as long as its not raining.

Finally, we brought our contractors back to help get our lawn established.  The weather has been so flaky the last two months that we haven't really been able to get the lawn truly established. Whenever we did work on seeding the lawn, it rained and we ended up with lots of erosion problems so the guys came back and are putting things to right for us. 

Apparently, the magic ingredients to establish a lawn include, lime, seed, straw, a bobcat and lime. I believe we will be watering the lawn for the next couple of weeks until we can get it well established. We'll also have to reseed some come fall but at least we won't be faced with so much mud.
