First fruits

Now that we are officially in Summer the garden is obliging us with a few tempting morsels. So far we've picked enough pickles to can, a mess of green beans, a few tomatoes and close to half a gallon of blue berries. Lisa also dug up half of our potatoes which are a disappointment this year. We won't be getting near as many as we had last year, a result of our poor soil and the lack of amendments . We'll make up for that once the garden finishes up this fall.  I guess we'll be buying potatoes at the farmer's market.  Of course with the heat, our lettuce finally bolted and had to be pulled out but was replaced with carrot seeds. Tomato plants are doing really well; we're keeping our fingers crossed that blossom end rot won't rob us of our harvest.

After a week or so of using the clothesline, Lisa decided it needed one more addition to be just right.  So this weekend we built a shelf on one end to hold the laundry basket at a comfortable height and to keep it out of the dirt. It had to look like it fit in after all our hard work building it in the first place, I think it turned out pretty well.

 It's amazing what the right tools will do for you..... lovin' that table saw.
