looking forward to Spring

With the recent warm weather (hey, did we ever really have a winter?) thoughts of spring and green things has started to compete for our thoughts and resources. With  the completion of our new home, the yard is a blank slate: lots of grass and red clay and plenty of potential have us trying to figure out what to do first. We need to expand our gardens, build the chicken coop and plant trees and bushes around the house. Obviously, this will be a work in progress. To that end, we got a chance to work on the chicken coop this weekend and made some real progress. The outside framing is basically done and ready for a roof. It's turning out pretty nicely if we do say so ourselves.

Lisa has also brought out the seed starting material and set them up in the laundry room. Won't be long and she'll have little green things poking out of the dirt; a true sign of hope and new life. Getting them started now will give us time to grow them large enough so they will withstand the early spring chill. I think we'll use the screened in porch to harden them off before we put them in the garden.
The overalls show she's serious about gardening-even in the laundry room!
Seeds all tucked in and on their heating blanket.

Of course, we can't leave aunt Kathy without a picture of one of the grand kids.  Wyatt recently had his tonsils and adenoids taken out and was one sick little boy for about two weeks. After a follow-up trip to the hospital, he is finally on the mend. Here's a picture of him in his newly decorated, big-boy bedroom, enjoy!
