13 tons and whadya get.....

Seeing as we can't leave well enough alone, we had 13 tons of river rock(both large and small sized stones)delivered so we could create a dry riverbed feature in our backyard.

Now, this is not just a decorative feature but will serve to reduce/eliminate erosion from water run off. Because of where we situated the house on our property, we have a fair amount of water that runs around the bottom of the berm and around the back of the house and down into the woods every time we have really heavy rain. Every time it  rains it carves huge crevasses in the yard.
Notice how nicely the grass is filling in.

So to combat it we plan to building something like this:

This should help us with managing the water without creating the next grand canyon. Thank God for the Kubota with its bucket as that rock is quite a distance from where we'll need it. My guess is that it will take us a couple of weeks of weekend and afterwork sweat and effort to get this done to our satisfaction. So keep an eye on this blog for updates.
