Sunday and the end is in sight

Sunday turned out to be another stunning fall day. The sky was absolutely beautiful. we arrived on the job site ready to tackle the home stretch and looking forward to our new found "friend" to help us out with the roofing. Steve the roofer turned up around 8;15 and went immediately to work. He put down all of the tar paper and danced around the edges of the roof like he was born there. Needless to say, some of us are not so graceful or willing to be so close to the edge. before long he had all of the tar paper down and suggested that a friend of his, who could also use some work, would go a long way toward getting the job done. Seeing as Tim and Roger were busy putting the shed roof on the side of the structure for our camper it left me to be the other anchor of this team. At this rate, I saw myself still roofing on Monday after everyone else returned home. Reason prevailed and we encouraged him to go get his buddy.

It's hard to see in this picture but that's Steve and Jim in the middle of the roof as they finnish up the last of the shingles.  Tim and Roger took care of shingling most of the shed and helped put the last couple of shingles on the main roof. Finally the vent was installed across the top and of course, the weather vane was put into place. By the time we got off the roof and picked up the tools it was around 5:30. It was hard to believe that everything we planned to get done was, in fact, done.

At the end of the day, I can't think of any more satisfying sight than the beautiful fall colors framing our new barn with the South Mountains in the background. We'll keep listing pictures as we work on painting and trim work.
